Working together on this has been a long but enjoyable process, full of surprises!

The most recent surprise perhaps has been the announcement of the new official Tomb Raider game which some websites have dubbed as ‘Tomb Raider Reborn’. This project has been going in its current state for around 3-4 years now and I hope those who have discovered our project through the announcement of the upcoming official game from Crystal Dynamics, will stick around to find out more about this fan project forward!

Our priority now is to keep up the momentum with the writing for now and as we go through 2011, the hope is that things will begin to take shape and before the year is out, you may see some new material – most likely in a BETA form but it will be new material nonetheless!

While we work away on the project whenever we can, the both of us currently working on this are busy working on respective University degrees and part-time jobs, so we try to remain as flexible as possible.
For those reading this as we head on into February, all the best for 2011 from the Reborn team!

Thanks very much to Brett and everyone else who took part. Now that we have a new logo, we will be looking to change the website look in order to accommodate that change so you can look forward to that in the coming weeks. The project itself is still moving along nicely with ideas now being developed on and the time for writing drawing nearer although I’d still hesitate to say when we will actually finish this – it could still be a while yet!

For some aspects, not even loads of research and theorising can guarantee we successfully anticipate what Core would have done but since the whole point of this is to continue as it was meant to go on, we’ve tried our best. However, the story will also contain some very challenging ideas, existing characters will be involved in significant plot twists, axed characters will now be included and some new characters of our own all come together in TR:Reborn to create its own unique plot dynamic.

As the project advances, I hope to release some of our own research material (a kind of internet based bibliography if you will!)  in order to give you an oppurtunity to learn what we’ve learnt. It really is fascinating stuff to research for answers surrounding the the themes began by AOD.

OWNERSHIP: All Tomb Raider related names and terms do not belong to us and Eidos Interactive reserve all rights to the Tomb Raider franchise. Artwork/music and information used for the story that originates from outside members of the project will also be credited in full and like the Tomb Raider name, we will not claim ownership nor seek profit from such material.

GIVING CREDIT: As we publish our material on the internet a bibliography will be developed in order to adhere to our policy of giving credit where credit is due. The internet is rife with uncredited material and when third party websites all host the same beautiful wallpaper without mentioning the author, its just a real shame. That person doesn’t get the credit they deserve. So everything you will find here that has been directly linked to its authors.

CREATIVE COMMONS:

With all of this in mind, the growth of the creative commons license can only be a good thing in encouraging a move away from internet plagiarism and towards artistic freedom and credit. Its allowed many areas of the creative community to flourish and it is postmodernism at its best. Material used for Tomb Raider Reborn will involve material used within this license. TOMB RAIDER REBORN’S STATUS: This project is defined as a fan fiction project. For those who are interested in the implications of that, There’s a detailed Wikipedia article covering that.

• Changed theme from Kubrick to This Just In. I think it suits the news format plus the headers will change from page to page which is a nice little feature.
• Headers changed to Tomb Raider Reborn.net this is also the look of the new logo albeit in its plainest form.

That’s all for now. The look of the site will continue to improve (especially with the headers) as I find more to make it look more interesting but this should do for the time being.
